The demand for locally grown meat birds has seen a dramatic rise in recent years. Many farmers market vendors cannot keep up with the demand for local, pasture-raised, hormone free poultry. The birds are easy to raise and can be ready to process as early as 6 weeks of age, with the latest time being 12 weeks.
