The backyard poultry producer community is growing each year. Consumers are interested in where their food is coming from and how it was raised. With the changes in recent community by-laws it is now easier than ever to raise some laying hens for eggs, or broilers for meat. Fancy birds, ducks and exotics are also becoming a hobby for young and old alike. Local bird auctions are springing up in communities, giving those interested a chance to find a special addition to their flock or add a new genetic to the existing birds.

The demand for locally grown meat birds has seen a dramatic rise in recent years. Many farmers market vendors cannot keep up with the demand for local, pasture-raised, hormone free poultry. The birds are easy to raise and can be ready to process as early as 6 weeks of age, with the latest time being 12 weeks.

There is no shortage of information about how to raise a successful poultry flock, and we pride ourselves on having knowledgable staff to guide and help you enjoy your birds.
